Be careful with free hosting services, they try to upgrade you on a ton of features which end up costing more than a regular paid hosting package.
I run several sites and used to be with Globat, but left them because their tech and billing support did not meet my needs.
I moved my business to Webair, and boy, they have been great. Blazing fast servers, same day support, easy billing (including paypal) and you can host multiple domains on one account. MySQL and PHP is nice and fast, plus they are leaders in the amount of bandwidth and storage space you get.

1) Zero ads - but require you to register or transfer domain name with them for at least 1 year. Price of new registration or transfer of domain name can cost anywhere from $15 to $35 depending on which "free" web hosting provider you go with.
If you’re smart, you can actually get a domain name for less than $10 with a reputable domain registrar instead of paying that "free" web host.
Actually, the up front domain registration or transfer fee covers the basic web hosting features, it’s just that they make it sound as if the hosting plan is free for you except for that domain registration or transfer.
In other words, whether you get a new domain name or transfer your existing domain name to the free web host, you have to pay $15 to $35 before you’re entitled to their so-called "free website hosting".

You should go with paid hosting instead. Some few good ones are cheap at the price. You get more but you pay far lesser than you were to upgrade in those free hosting service. Ask any expert marketers, they’ll tell you the same thing I’m telling you now.

If your current internet provider is Earthlink, AOL, SBC Global and others which provide a homepage; you can easily FTP your own webpage designs as a new homepage. And using a redirection service such as mydomain.com or the forwarding of a parked domain name at godaddy.com, you can easily "mask" the homepage URL with a proper domain name. So in a sense, you have a working ecommerce website disguised as a homepage while still paying your normal monthly Internet access and hosting fee.
