How can I stop following someone on Twitter?

For obvious commercial reasons, Twitter makes it difficult to delete names from the list of people that users are following. Is there an easy way to do it? I need to drop several hundred people, so I’m looking for a way that doesn’t require too many clicks and keystrokes.

Not sure whether you’re simply asking how to unfollow, or looking for an automated solution. Anyway, to unfollow manually, just make sure you’re logged in to your account, then click on "followers." Then, next to the person you want to unfollow, click the icon on the far right (the one that kind of looks like a starburst) and choose "unfollow."
It seems like this would be a hassle if you want to unfollow a whole bunch of people, but it actually just takes a second or two for each one to just go down the list and unfollow whoever you want.
